With costs continuing to rise in the UK and the current Cost of Living Crisis, it has never been more important to ensure our people are paid fairly and sufficiently for their needs.
At GMG we stay true to our commitment to support staff and pay a fair wage. From apprentices to experienced tradespeople, we employ more than 100 people – in addition to around 70 self-employed contractors – with each person receiving a bespoke training programme and support through their continuing professional development (CPD).
Our recruitment policy carefully balances new workers with experienced tradespeople who can pass on their skills. It is important we are building careers and paying people a fair wage.
That is why GMG is proud to support Living Wage Week from 6-12 November – a celebration encouraging businesses of all sizes to support employees by offering a living wage.
A GMG representative said: “We believe that a fair wage isn’t just a number on a paycheck, it’s our commitment to honour our employees and a reflection of GMG’s values.
“For more than 35 years, GMG has embarked on a journey to invest in the future of our staff, both at work and in our communities.
“We hope our commitment to the Living Wage will encourage other firms to sign up and ensure their employees receive the wages they deserve.”
GMG was the first SME construction company in Scotland to achieve the prestigious Platinum accolade by Investors in Young People and in 2015 we received accreditation from the Living Wage Foundation.
Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 52,000 people in Scotland and put over £310 million extra into the pockets of low paid Scottish workers.
