The Platinum award is the highest level of recognition in IIYP and reaffirms our commitment to staff development.

GMG has held IIYP since 2014 and the following year we were the first construction SME in the UK to receive gold level accreditation.

Remarkable Specialist, Nicola Dillon, praised GMG’s achievement: “On behalf of Remarkable I would like to wholeheartedly congratulate GMG on achieving the prestigious IIYP Platinum accreditation. GMG is an ambassador for employing young people, especially young apprentices who may have faced barriers to work. What stands out is their passion and relentless commitment to equip all young people to learn, develop and reach their full potential through relentlessly instilling their core values of respect, quality work, good work ethic, teamwork, and self-pride.

“GMG is inspirational to young people and is most definitely changing young people’s lives for the better in our ever-changing world. They are an employer for the sector to be benchmarked against.”

Young people have always been at the very heart of GMG. We provide continuous support to all our staff, particularly the younger team members, ensuring there are always opportunities available for development and progression.

Gerry McGinn CEO said: “We are committed to supporting and enabling our young people to thrive.

“At GMG we place an emphasis on training and preparation for the future, many of our trainees progress into senior and managerial positions.

Gerry added: “We work in close partnership with our staff, and we will always continue to recruit, train, and nurture our workforce as a key priority.

“We value all of our people and are immensely proud of all they achieve. I would like to congratulate each and every member of staff for their continuous hard work and dedication.”

GMG has exceeded the fair work standards set out by IIYP – respect, effective voice, job fulfilment, opportunity, security, and career progression – areas our young workforce spoke highly of when interviewed individually by assessors.

For over 35 years, GMG has embarked on a journey to find and develop apprentices with training and education which aligns with the realities of the construction industry.

“The Platinum accreditation is a testament to the dedication of our people, and we are absolutely delighted to receive this award”
