We are proud to report we have completed roof renewal work at St Cadoc’s Primary School in Newton Mearns, just in time for the winter months.
The project, commissioned by East Renfrewshire Council, took place during the school’s summer holidays, ensuring there was minimal disruption to pupils’ learning as our contractors began their work.
The school’s roof was failing in a number of areas, making it a serious health and safety hazard and therefore top priority for both East Renfrewshire Council and GMG Contractors Ltd. One of the most serious hazards was the reported water ingress, meaning the roof was renewed immediately.
This involved a GMG team completely renovating the school’s insulated flat roof, removing and replacing rooflights and resealing existing vents to ensure the space was water-tight. As we move into the autumn, and the rainier months, the completion of this roof renewal could not have come at a better time.
Asides from assuring the building’s safety, the project has also offered a secondary benefit – the installation of insulation. This will vastly improve the school’s energy efficiency, a factor that has become increasingly important in recent times due to costs of heating large spaces and as we typically have colder, wetter months.
A GMG representative said: “We are so pleased to have carried out this work for the pupils and staff of St Cadoc’s Primary School, ensuring they will be warm and more importantly, safe, as we come into the colder season. As soon as water ingress is experienced, you should get your roof looked at right away, something that East Renfrewshire Council took extremely seriously when they came to us earlier this year. I am really proud of the work our expert team has carried out and hope both the pupils and staff are pleased.”
We have extensive experience working within school environments across Scotland, including projects at Woodfarm High School in East Renfrewshire, Firpark Secondary School in North Lanarkshire and Southcraig School in South Ayrshire. Want to work with us?
