Residents in North Lanarkshire are already benefiting from extensive repairs and upgrades of their homes, just 12-months into a five-year framework.
Since securing the contract, our expert team has been breathing new life into homes located in Motherwell, Cleland, Greengairs, and Bellshill.
The programme, awarded by North Lanarkshire Council, is worth around £2million each year and supports more than 14 apprentices – many of whom are North Lanarkshire-based.
Once fully completed, the upgraded homes will have improved energy efficiency with external wall insulation (EWI) and new rendering to modernise the aesthetics. The regeneration also involves cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, roof stripping and tiling, the installation of heat recovery units and the installation of roof line and rainwater goods.
The addition of EWI will be especially welcome in the current economic climate and will help residents’ keep their energy costs down while reducing their carbon footprint. Hundreds of households are expected to benefit from these efficient upgrades throughout the five-year framework.
Site Manager Liam Martin explained: “This is an exciting yet challenging project, particularly with the number of units GMG is working on, but our team has been enjoying the fast-paced work and love watching the weekly transformations.
“Personally, this project gives me a huge sense of pride, we know our work is helping the local community improve energy efficiency and hopefully reducing costs within their homes.”
We look forward to further progressing within this framework as we dive into year two to provide the same beneficial upgrades for more members of the community.
