Progress on properties for hundreds of North Lanarkshire residents

Published: 12 May 2023

Residents will benefit from even more improvements to homes as we begin our third year of upgrading more than 550 properties across North Lanarkshire.

Our expert team has been busy over the past 24 months with extensive repairs to hundreds of homes as part of a five-year project with North Lanarkshire Council. We are proud of the progress made so far and are on track to deliver freshly renovated, efficient homes to residents in Motherwell, Cleland, Greengairs, Glenmavis and Bellshill.

The properties are being fully upgraded with improvements including re-roofing, installation of solar panels, cavity wall insulation, external wall insulation, as well as re-rendering and decoration works. The project will bring the buildings up to PAS 2035 standards while also improving their energy efficiency, reducing tenants’ bills and making the properties more environmentally friendly by cutting their carbon footprint significantly on the race to Net Zero.

A GMG representative said: “It’s been great working within the local community for the last few years, and seeing everything start to come together for its residents. Due to the high number of properties the team has been working on, the project has been both exciting and challenging, but we are enjoying every minute of it.

“What’s also been special about this project is the opportunity to have local apprentices from North Lanarkshire work with us, learning the ropes from our contractors and helping to improve homes in their own local community. It’s been really rewarding.”
