Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) was a common building material from the 1950s to the 1990s. While lightweight and popular at the time, it is now known to have a limited lifespan and a higher risk of structural failure particularly in flat roofs.

Where is RAAC commonly found?

Because of its lightweight nature, it was primarily used in flat roofing, but it can also be found in:

  • Education: Schools and university campuses.
  • Healthcare: Hospitals and clinics.
  • Public Sector: Police stations and municipal buildings.
  • Commercial: Older office blocks and retail units.

GMG provides the technical expertise required to manage RAAC risks effectively. We offer a full-service approach to ensure your building remains safe and compliant:

Professional Identification: Expert surveys to locate and assess RAAC.
Risk Mitigation: Structural support and safety measures.
Long-Term Remediation: Replacement or reinforcement of failing structures.
