42 Homes Set for Major Energy-Efficiency Upgrades

Published: 27 January 2026

Work is underway on a new site that will see 42 mixed tenure homes over 3 blocks upgraded at Farme Cross, delivered by GMG in continued partnership with South Lanarkshire Council.

The project focuses on improving the energy performance, comfort and long-term sustainability of the homes, while reducing carbon emissions and future maintenance requirements.

A wide range of improvements will be delivered across the site. These include the installation of new windows and doors, helping to reduce heat loss and improve overall thermal efficiency. A new door entry system will also be fitted, enhancing both security and accessibility for residents.

The programme includes close decoration works, alongside the installation of new roofs designed to improve weather resistance and extend the lifespan of the buildings. A new external wall insulation system will be applied to significantly boost energy efficiency, reduce heating demand and support lower carbon emissions.

In addition, mechanical ventilation systems will be installed to improve indoor air quality while supporting efficient airflow throughout the flats.

This project builds on a long-standing partnership with South Lanarkshire Council, reinforcing a shared commitment to delivering practical, construction-led solutions that support carbon reduction targets and improve the quality of housing stock.

The development demonstrates how GMG can deliver measurable environmental benefits while creating warmer, safer and more comfortable homes for residents.
