North Lanarkshire Council (NLC) appointed GMG to complete a five-year refurbishment and upgrade programme across multiple residential properties.
Our partnership involves whole-house renovations to improve the lives of tenants in more than 550 homes. The project will improve the fabric of NLC’s estate with reroofing, installing solar PV, cavity and external wall insulations, and re-rendering.
Now in the project’s second year, our expert teams are working across multiple units, tasks and sites, and extensive repairs have been completed on a number of properties.

The complexity of the programme has involved a number of stages, from design, pre-construction, procurement and construction. All specifications were preapproved by North Lanarkshire Council.
Since securing the contract, our expert teams have been breathing new life into homes located in Motherwell, Cleland, Greengairs and Bellshill.
Once fully completed, the upgraded homes will have improved energy efficiency with external wall insulation (EWI) and new rendering to modernise the aesthetics.
The regeneration also involves cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, roof stripping and tiling, the installation of heat recovery units and the installation of roof line and rainwater goods.
The addition of EWI will help residents keep their energy costs down and reduce their carbon footprint.
Hundreds of households are expected to benefit from these efficient upgrades throughout the five-year framework.
As part of GMG’s community benefits commitment, the programme of work supports more than 14 apprentices – many of whom are North Lanarkshire-based.
