We are pleased to have commenced work on an important new project with East Renfrewshire Council.
The roof of St Cadoc’s Primary School in Newton Mearns had been failing in a number of areas with water ingress experienced, making it a health and safety hazard and therefore a top priority for both East Renfrewshire Council and GMG Contractors Ltd.
Our work began in the school’s summer holidays to fit in with their requirements and to limit any disruption that could be caused. To ensure the soundness of the building, GMG will carry out a renewal of the insulated flat roof, removing and replacing rooflights and resealing existing vents to ensure the space is water-tight.
This insulation will offer an added benefit, ensuring improved energy efficiency for the school, a factor that has become increasingly important for many in recent times.
John Gallagher, Site Manager, said: “This is a really important project to us because it ensures both the comfort and the safety of pupils and staff at St Cadoc’s Primary School. Our expert team is set to work immediately in June to provide essential upgrades to the dwelling’s roof. When water manages to get into the building, that’s when you want to get your roof looked at right away, and the summer holidays have provided the perfect time to begin our work and resolve critical issues. Once the summer holidays are over, pupils and staff of St Cadoc’s will have a fresh roof and a fresh look to return to.
