We have reached the halfway point in our works at Kilncroft Terrace, Douglas. Now two months in, our contractors have been hard at work in South Lanarkshire, carrying out re-roofing and re-rendering works. Our team has also installed cavity wall insulation, working with the external walls’ existing air source heat pumps – a complex task handled expertly by our professional and experienced team.
But there was something unique about this project. Working in association with South Lanarkshire Council and Applied Ecology, all GMG staff on-site undertook a training session on bat and bird safety, where our team learned of the correct procedures to follow should they discover a bird or bat nest while working on the properties. At GMG, we ensure our work is considerate and as sensitive to the local community as possible – and that includes their animal residents. GMG will continue to work closely with Applied Ecology for the duration of the project and ensure all natural habitat in the surrounding areas are protected at all times.
Once complete, renovations, valued at £400,000, will improve energy efficiency of the homes in Kilncroft Terrace as well as enhance the look and feel of the residential street. The community development project is just one of many sites where team GMG has been upgrading properties in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council, including Glebe Gardens, Lesmahagow and Kirkconnel Drive, Rutherglen.
Gary McGinn, Project Manager, said: “Our work has progressed smoothly in Kilncroft Terrace, and we are already seeing a marked improvement to the properties. We are enjoying working with South Lanarkshire Council to deliver for their residents, and we look forward to seeing the finished product and, most importantly, the benefits it will bring to the people”
“We are excited to share photos once our work is complete, and to see all residents walking through the doors of their fresh, new and improved, energy efficient homes in September.”
