The project

GMG was awarded an exceptional contract to refurbish a property of historic importance on Glaisnock Street, Cumnock. The Grade B listed property created an intricate project for our well-equipped team, requiring traditional methods of construction to complete the refurbishment, while preserving the property’s original charm.

Approach

As the property is a historic, Grade B-listed property, traditional methods of construction were required. Our site manager, who has more than 20 years experience, has an extensive background in working in refurbishment and heritage projects. This also offered a tremendous opportunity for us to show local apprentices these traditional methods. GMG prides itself on investing in the workforce of tomorrow.

GMG is experienced in dealing with complex historical property refurbishments, having managed slating and flat roof work on other heritage sites like the Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) project in Helensburgh.

Outcome

Renovations on the property began in August 2022 and were completed four months later. The team was delighted to bring a historic building back to its former glory for all to enjoy.
